Gender

Governments treat men and women differently, thereby often exacerbating existing gender inequalities. Our research examines why and to what extent governments engage in gender-based discrimination through their tax and social policies. For example, we analyze the taxation of menstrual products or married couples. Concerning the latter, we are particularly interested in the factors that drive reforms of joint taxation.
